About Us

“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.” – Dr. Emmett Brown

At North Park Trail Runners, Inc., we believe trail running is more than just a sport — it’s a community. Founded in the greater Pittsburgh area, we are a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) volunteer-based organization dedicated to the healthy, social, and competitive aspects of trail running. While Pittsburgh is home, our love for the trails takes us all over — from local adventures to road trips for races and events.

We are a fast-growing group bound together by a passion for running wild places, supporting each other, and making trail running accessible to anyone who wants to be part of it.

Building a Welcoming Trail Community

We recognize the importance of reflecting the communities around us and creating an environment where anyone can feel at home on the trails. To do this, we are committed to:

  1. Expanding group run locations to be accessible to a wider range of people.
  2. Building partnerships with individuals and organizations across Pittsburgh that support an open and welcoming trail community.
  3. Listening and learning in order to continuously improve our events to ensure they are welcoming to everyone and never stop seeking how we can do things better.
